BIO

Hauntress is a Philadelphia rock band that formed in 2019 by vocalist/guitarist K. Cullen Hart, bassist Sam Zettell and drummer Richard Straub. Together, their music combines elements of traditional heavy metal, early 90s grunge, gothic and doom metal, as well as mid-2000s indie rock.

In February of 2020, Hauntress released their debut EP, “Now Here”, and played a handful of shows to promote it at local Philly staples such as Ortlieb’s and Kung Fu Necktie. Later that year, they were invited to join Weathervane Music’s ‘Recorder’s Club’, which they soon followed up with another single, “The Task at Hand”.

Throughout 2021, the band rehearsed and recorded their debut album, “Open Doors”, with longtime producer and engineer Matt Poirier at Miner Street Recordings in Philly. As venues began to open up their doors again, Hauntress soon resumed performing, with their first show back at The Grape Room in September of 2021.

Hauntress’ work has been featured in Magnet Magazine, which documented the recording sessions for “Open Doors”, as well as Philly’s own Cherry-Veen Zine for their stop-motion/animated music video collaboration with another longtime collaborator, Hannah Darrah, for “Now Here”.

“Open Doors” released on July 1, 2022 with a release show the following day at Ortlieb’s.
